5pence, from what I saw, everything that was on final PDF from committee made it in. Subtitle F Appraisal Activities, Sec 1471. I rummaged through thomas.gov to find it.

Wow...first, Pilotman was right, THEIR Realtor had no Ethics. To everyone else who is throwing every other Realtor like me under the bus with her, not true. Our team only recommends people who do their jobs right. We throw inspectors off our list if they miss items, get rid of lenders who regularly close late or charge extra fees, and only keep title companies that actually explain the HUD to clients so they know what they are signing and doing. This is what we, as Realtors, are supposed to do for our clients. Take care of them, and make sure they are taken care of by everyone else they work with in the process that they have the option to select. You don't get repeat/referral business from screwing people over!
iam 2520: (July 15, 2010 12:18pm)
Your check clears...your now a Realtor, but for how long. Personally I would sell a house to the Devil himself...if he was paying CASH (but that would be discrimination as I do not require ALL my clients to pay cash) This can be a no win deal and upon close examination everyone discriminates a little or alot.

I heard that they're going to post a full copy of the final bill on the internet within 72 hours of passage. Let's hope it hasn't changed from the last rendition posted

Some of you are on the right track. All you have to do is watch this video documentary to see what is really going on around here. The Federal Reserve is a privately held bank and they are running the show. Politicians and members that sit on the board of the FED are puppets that act in the interest of "The Money Changers". Watch the video and you will never be the same. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-515319560256183936#

Ever since speculators at GS and the hedge funds inflated oil prices to $145 a barrel in July 2007, things haven't been the same. That speculation and manipulation of the markets at will by the banksters was the start of our current dilemma. They are so big they can move markets any way and at any time they want.

I said it before and I'll say it again. It took criminal and immoral activity for the banks to get as big as they did. It will take more criminal and immoral activity to keep them as big as they are, and, getting bigger. This bill ensures that TBTF is enshrined and the banks can continue in their devious ways of too big to compete and too big to care about anything but profits. Hello global economic integration and goodbye democracy and national sovereignty. Too pessimistic? Maybe, or maybe it's just the ankle I broke skydiving that keeps acting up every time a storm moves in. Rumors are the TBTF banks don't find customer deposit activity profitable enough anymore and they're going to move to on-line banking only - where they charge monthly fees for access. BofA is considering an $8.95 month charge. Why should they care about typical banking when the door is wide open for speculations with all reward and little to no risk with taxpayer backing. I saw CITI sold some CDO's. Shame, shame.

Thanks for your response Brady

Over 2,000 pages. The more complicated it is the easier it is for the bankster criminals and scammers to take advantage of loopholes and us. Have they never heard of KISS? This thing is so Corporatist it's unbelievable that this could happen in this great country. "Democracy, national sovereignty and global economic integration are mutually incompatible. It's possible to have any 2 but not all 3. It's the inescapable trilemma of a world economy".
cpappraisal: (July 15, 2010 9:22am)
cgappraisals-Do you know where I can go to read the amendments that they are voting on?
cgappraisals: (July 15, 2010 8:55am)
Final vote on Financial Reform, likely 2 pm ET.

Pilotman - I'm really sorry to hear what happened, but I have to ask - Why would you not hire your own inspectors? Why did you trust this realtor so much? You only wanted 1 opinion? I don't understand people that want to waive inspections when they purchase because they want to save a few hundred bucks. This is the biggest investment of your life! Hire the best to insure you are safe in your investment and check out every system! Always get inspections from dis-interested parties to the transaction. Ethics are are problem if you only get opinions from interested parties in the transaction. Do you just get 1 opinion from 1 doctor and go with the treatment they suggest or do you get a 2nd opinion? Trying to save money on something so important is the ultimate in folly. A homeowner and appraisers opinion. Get the damn inspections on your own!! But, get them!! Again, sorry for your situation pilotman, I hope you find some legal recourse and compensation.

I've always marketed to gays and have done very well. Usually good incomes, homes are well kept, and usually very easy to work with. Shame on anyone for discriminating!
5pence: (July 15, 2010 8:38am)
These guys that composed the Consumer Protection Bill aught to be ashamed of themselves. Seriously. They allowed the banks to write the bill for them. Over 2,000 pages and nothing substantial. Glass-Steagal was 17 pages long and worked great for 70 years. While I'm glad I might be getting my career back, I'm verily disheartened that nothing is done to make the banks make a "real" market for their MBS's and CDO's. Instead the taxpayer has to continue to support their investment schemes. The new trillion dollar agency is going to be housed in the Fed. The Fed was the main cause of this meltdown and to house the regulators in the Fed is sheer lunacy. IMO it should have been housed in the FBI. We have a banking crisis (read-Moral Crisis) and all these A-holes can think of is spending more money on a useless new agency? 17 pages and Glass-Steagall stood the test of time until Gramm-Leach-Blyely. 17 pages that cost the taxpayer nothing. Hello taxpayer funding for a trillion $$ new agency.

I updated to Firefox 3.6.6 just before watching your show and I almost didn't get your show to run. I couldn't pause it to make notes and you definitely couldn't back it up to relisten to things. I'm presuming it's the new Firefox, but I thought you ought to know.
Bono Vox: (July 15, 2010 7:52am)
Pilotman - you're being selfish and overlooking the really important issue on the purchase of your home: The Realtor made commission! Termites? Faulty wiring? Brokern AC? Broken Septic? Suck it up! Your satisfaction isn't the goal! It does illustrate what is wrong with our industry. If the appraiser, lender and inspector are honest, the Realtor doesn't get paid and she won't send out any more referrals to those people.
joetheagent: (July 15, 2010 7:50am)
I still cannot believe that sexual orentation is not a protected class at the federal level... much less under NAR code of ethics... Serriously? I come from a very consevative state but this issue is crystal clear to me. I have one question about whether to protect any class of people from discimination... Is their money green? The reason I ask this one and only question is because we "claim" to be a capitalist society. True capitalists don't give a rats butt about anything other than a persons ability to pay for goods and services. This is still a free country for a few more minutes so if you don't care for a certain person or type of people... refer them to someone else and move on, otherwise, be glad you have a paying customer and give them your very best service. I've heard and read that gay people have the largest amount of disposable income of any demographic in the US... in this market are we really going to tell people with money that they aren't protected? really?
jc36: (July 15, 2010 7:04am)
Pilotman48 I agree with you. I think that is what is wrong with this country today to many people want this and that in writing when it should be understood and go with out saying. Sorry for your bad luck on the home should have sued.
mdrealtor: (July 15, 2010 7:03am)
The code of Ethics and the required ethics training are a hoop you must jump to get a job unethical people as well as people who discriminate, are not going to change because NAR tells them to. Just ask Mel! I say surround yourself with good people and the referrals will follow
NJTitleMan: (July 15, 2010 6:51am)
Have to agree with Phillyguy. Ethics and Realtors is like oil and water, just doesn't mix. Been doing this longer than I care to remember (longer than most of the local RE agents are old) and they, for the most part, are only in it to get rich. If the deal goes south, it becomes a blame game and the Mtg broker and title closer are the first ones they point their fingers at. Whatever happened to just treating every body with respect and as a professional? Sorry, just venting, have to get back to work now (although there is not much to do).
pilotman48: (July 15, 2010 6:19am)
I think Ethics is getting side tracked by political correctness. I'm an average, straight white guy. When I bought my 2nd home years ago I had lots of money and credit. I trusted my Realtor to help out since it was an out of town purchase. I over paid for the house, her inspectors didn't notice the place was full of termites, septic system was shot, electrical was down right dangerous, or that it needed a roof! On the copies of the survey she gave me the septic tank is not there, on the original I had to get from the surveyor, the septic tank is clearly visable 10 feet from the well! The inspectors she recomended were out of business within 6 months, she left the area within a year. So can we get back to "Real Ethics"
Mtgbrkr1: (July 15, 2010 6:19am)
You are right rates are really low and refi's would be a great idea... but... try getting an appraisal to come in. Not happening in FL more times than not the client is so far underwater they cant even see the bottom of the boat.
Gnotboxchecker: (July 15, 2010 6:15am)
Hey, phillyguy is right on target and obxmls is playing to get the Team Player award from NAR. I have filed complaints with NAR and get back silly letters from the Office of General Counsel. The whole operation is just about paying fees and lobbying for the good old boys. Follow the money.
obxmls: (July 15, 2010 6:04am)
Sorry for the error posting... setting up account. @Phillyguy... you are so wrong on the NAR thing. Sounds like you need an explanation and understanding far beyond an education!! I think you need to explore the real life things that NAR does on your behalf!! Get real before you blab nonsense!
aprzal: (July 15, 2010 5:11am)
Frank, Looking Good!!
phillyguy: (July 15, 2010 4:49am)
The NAR code of conduct is a joke to begin with, it's all about the annual fees they need to collect. Anyone can be a REALTOR, so long as your check clears.
Video Poll
Today's Poll: Do you think the change to NAR's code of ethics is a big deal?
A. No. Everybody is "green" to me.
B. Maybe, but it won't change anybody.
C. Yes. NAR should be as PC as possible.
D. Personally I find it fun to discriminate.
