Give Frank & Brian a break! How were they to know that a few states were not up to date. As someone else mentioned Texas has their info posted in minutes. It's a good idea. I use it, but then I'm in Texas - God's country!

Loppy who is whining , all we want is for Frank and Brain to slam the heck out the whole NMLS system instead of pre maturely stating it is the place to check on an LO and how great it is . I know they mentioned they made a mistake in the last few seconds of the show today but they should truly make a bold statement and do a whole 4 mins on how poor the system is. It is like the Obama Health plan for Loan Officer Licenses. As I said previous the states are broke they don’t have the man power to accurately report what is needed as well as check on Loan Officers compensation down the road. Thanks for pointing out you made a pre mature statement, but lets get some head lines and press on how poor the system is !

Watching MSNBC now. Let's see, the definition of inverted totalitarianism is "playing" at politics, politics for the sake of politics with no consideration of the common good. Instead of legistlation for jobs, they're voting down health care and abortion rights and other time wasting "politics". The goal is to make Americans realize the government isn't going to do anything to help them, and that makes the voters apathetic. Of course it could be the "wait" for anything real to get done that's causing it too. All in all I'd say there's a coup going on for our Government.

NMLS is also having problems with branch offices and some wholesalers are holding up docs for either the agent or the branch registration. Stop whining, get back to work.

Frank and Brian...any update if you are going to be offering the video marketing roundup on-line/on-demand? Couldn't make it to Dallas but eager to check out the content. Thanks.

In response to Canesf12.. have your clients access the Florida Office of Financial Regulation at https://real.flofr.com/ConsumerServices/SearchLicensingRecords/Search.aspx They can do a search there, unfortunately the active licenses show 12/31/2010 as an expiration date. This issue really gets under my skin. I've spent $565 in various filing fees and testing (went cheap on the study course). I worked hard, studied, got at 95% on the test (instantly scored), and the record of my licensing is in limbo. If a prospective client wanted to check up on me, they can't. Once again, this is why you do not want to give the government control over your lives, your medical records, your health care. Remember, these are the people who can't figure out how to build a fence.

Appraiser Micro: I would make small community based banks part of the new system. They are local to the area where the property is located and should have familiarity. They won't be able to use their owns funds, but shouldn't rely on a bigger bank or Fannie either. Long term fixed investors need to be re-cultivated as the investors for long term fixed mortgages. Outlaw Wall Street gambling with our mortgages. No more securitizing. And if you think we'll run out of money to make mortgages if we do this, we won't. What this would do is re-stabilize the mortgage industry. All of the bets being placed on our housing ruined our industry, yet this is the system that remains in place. I have many informational videos on my blog. If you don't care to read my rants then don't, but click on any image on page 2 and learn of this devastation that hasn't yet been addressed by lawmakers. http://realestatemarbles.com/newgeneration There are at leats 10 videos you should see if you're in this business

Risk based pricing has always been a piece of Fannie/Freddie's culture. But the atrocity is that we the taxpayer/consumer have put up $165B+ for these crooks and now the prices have been adjusted to help pay we the taxpayer/consumer back! Not! It's one big financial orgy! Who's gonna kick who out of bed. Our lawmakers are on the take to keep this going. Fannie/Freddie aren't going anywhere fast. And the Banks are the biggest whores of the bunch, screwing anything and everything in sight. I am stating again that banks are wham, bam, thank you ma'am artists that use our money for fast turnaround leveraged profits, yet pay us 1%. What? So we can keep taking it and keep bitching or we can try to change things with real answers. We need competition completely aside from the government owned entities. We need free enterprise back in the business. Fresh eyes, fresh start. Different attitude. Not chasing their own tails. (debt!) http://realestatemarbles.com/newgeneration

I thought banks were bout to fail... Now it's record profits? What about the little banks I hear are going under left and right. Please report on those. Thank you.

As I have been advocating for some time, it is time for a Homeowner ombudsman. Just as was mandated for the IRS, a taxpayer ombudsman. The ombudsman represents the interest of the Homeowner in navigating the mire of regulations for modifications, shortsales and foreclosures. In fact any situation where the Lender (Loan Servicer) is not responding or responding with incorrect information This would level the playing field. Right now the Homeowner is left to fend for themselves and most do not have a clue as the to rules and regulations. Making it more difficult is the fact that the rules differ from Lender to Lender. In addition the Lenders take advantage of this making untrue statements and demanding payments to go to the next step in the processs. (usually facilitated by the Lender (Servicer) collection dept. At least with the IRS the rules are the same for everyone. I think this is a part of what Blair is hinting at.

Brian and Frank - with all this talk about the market and what will or won't affect it and how, what are your thoughts on this? Half way through this presentation it speaks to taxes on the sale of real estate. Be sure to watch until you get to this part. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcBaSP31Be8

OK, so Citi has a huge profit, therefore Freddie says that Citi is selling bad loans, therfore Frerddie will claw back profits and therfore Congress will enact laws to recoup profits? You need to visit your 6th grade mat book to determine the % chance of all of things happening as a result of each other. 1st off, the majority of profits come from the carry trade which results from the Big 4 borrowing money, or getting it forced on them, at .25% from the Fed. Then they invest it in the 10 Yr. Bond. And so on...What kills me is that 94% of the people believe you or want to believe you!
mdeery: (January 20, 2011 7:57am)
The govt owns 80% of Citi when they bailed them out, the Govt owns Fannie and Freddie too so I dont think the fat ugly sisters of F&F would dip into their own pockets and steal from Peter to pay Paul...then again it is the gubbermint we are talking about so anything is possible.

Hey guys what happened to the "fun" in your video blogs? I always enjoyed the bit of antics at the end of my daily dose of news and information. It helped motivate me to work hard but enjoy the little things.

re: Follow my Client, have been using for about 1 year and am very pleased. I have 442 clients that get a weekly email contact from me that is professional and different. Support has always been prompt and personal, no call center support here. It is a great product that, I feel, differentiates me.
frankgaray: (January 20, 2011 6:59am)
proceedwithcaution - I just emailed you and them with instructions to refund your money. I'd like to point out that if you did upload your clients you would have found it useful. Doesn't make sense to pay for something and not do it. I'm sure they will contact you shortly. For everyone else out there, trust me, I know the Animals well and they are a stand up organization. If you by their stuff, use it and you'll be pleased. BTW - The B2B webinar is NOT an Animals product of any kind. It is a strategy that I used to great effectiveness - it totally kicks ass, it's easy, fun and fast. So please check it out if you're interested.

Proceed with caution. First I don't believe that at all. Second I'll take care of you. If you have an issue, get hold of us. I know them too well to believe that you would been treated that way.

here is my experience with Marketing Animals.. you make the call but I think you will get my feeling on it.. I registered for the FollowMyClient program that I saw on TBWS. I never uploaded the list because I had second thoughts of that list being out of my hands. So I decided to cancel. I e-mailed them to do so and never heard back. Since I never uploaded the list or even used the program, I wanted them to stop billing so I e-mailed them. I called and this guy Steven all but laughed at me when I asked him to reverse the pending charge since they hadn't responeded to my e-mail previously sent. He rushed the conversation from that point forward, basically told me no way and hung up on me. I called him back as I could not believe he did that. That customer service is what I would call "special". I guess they need the $49 more than I do. Just wanted to share the experience that not every endorsed company I see on sites like this are as you would think they would be..just an FYI

Doesn't LLPA (Risk-based) pricing also put more money in Fannie's and Freddie's coffers? That seems to be a very large source of income.

Kudos to Texas. Even though we kind of waited until the last minute, our acceptances were posted within 24 hrs. of the completion of our tests. I would love to see a graph of all the scores in percentile form, kind of like they have on the new credit report explanation form.

Do you plan to do the Bar Camp and video marketing at any other venues? Maybe Southeast? Seattle is a long ways from Alabama. Would love to attend.

As I said previous ,lets have a show on how broke the states are so truly all the regulations will never take place on time and may phase out . Good for PA making that statement , all tax payers should revolt and ask why are we paying all this money for staff to overlook loan officers ?That is the employers job not the states or the Feds .Hell we can not even pay people to police the streets for crime , how can we pay to police law biding loan officers ? Come on I know the two of you want to make a change , spread the word they NMLS is truly a waste of time and money and is useless! States do not have the resources to do it right . Make some change dont just report the news , thanks
GaryP: (January 20, 2011 5:14am)
Here's a blurb for you. The mortgage regulator in PA has told the feds that it WILL NOT be regulating LO compensation in their state. Apparently, compensation regulation is being pushed down to the state level and and at least one state is pushing back, saying that they do not have the resources to do the massive auditing that would be required to regulate compensation. This is definitely interesting and worth following to see if other states follow PA's example.

Florida has extended there application until March 31 for the NMLS. They are also out by about 45 days from when you get your final submission into the system. My submission sat for about a month in pending incomplete before it went to pending review. As of last week they had approved about 2200 apps and have about 14000 more to process. Interestingly there are only about 100 broker and lender apps to approve. These figures are per OFR.

Thanks for being professional and pointing out that Scott mentioned Florida is behind in updating the NMLS. I wanted to point out that it is up to the states to report the status to NMLS ( all NMLS does is report what they are given by the states ) . Most states are broke , so the system is out of whack and not working as planned , and they are behind all over the US so your retraction was professional and well called for . When I saw the original show asking people to check the web site and refrain from doing business with a loan officer if they are not listed I thought , what that truly means is you both think that the government is on top of things and gets things done on time, second you could and will face a lawsuit if your premature statement hurt someones income by making a false statement as you did previously . At this point the consumer web site for NMLS is so far from accurate and it will take a good year or so to be even close .

What website can I send my customers to to make sure their loan originator is licensed by the NMLS. I am in Florida. I am aware that ours is not up to date but this could still help.
