If you want a mind boggling video, watch this. Bill Moyers interviews William Black, former senior regulator http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/04032009/watch.html He says IndyMac Bank, lost more money than the entire Savings and Loan Crisis. Funny how this doesn't get on the news.

BTW, for those of you that don't believe the HVCC is illegal, then why would they be sunsetting it and putting it through due process of law to make sure it doesn't hurt the consumer and small business. That is what the sunsetting is about. "Although the HVCC was issued in part by an administrative agency of the federal government, it did not go through the Administrative Procedures Act (APA) or the Regulatory Flexibility Act (RFA) as required of rules issued by administrative agencies of the federal government. Reps. Childers (D-MS), Manzullo (R-IL), and Bachmann (R-MN) joined Congressman Gary Miller in offering the amendment to sunset the HVCC." It hurts the consumer, small business and everyone that it touches, everyone but the banksters.
5pence: (April 13, 2010 1:57pm)
Not to detract from clulesdad's communications from Rep Miller, but to add to it. Not sure if I posted this response from about a month ago from Sen Kanjorski's aides: "Many thanks for your thoughtful comments. We will definitely keep them in mind as appraisal reform moves forward. There is a definite need to fix appraiser compensation." I'd say good things are in the works - the bad news for appraisers is nearly everybodies already re-financed, lol. Amazing timing ehhh? Give us out careers back after the big banks have drained all they can out it. Oh well, I'd just be happy to have my career back and have brokers able to do business with me again. When times were slow, brokers kept me busy.
5pence: (April 13, 2010 1:43pm)
Beautifulm clulessdad. Sounds like you made the most of your few minutes. It is suprising about Ben. Totally. So they're sending you the Senate version of the bill? I hope not by snail mail lol. It's great to know that others, besides appraisers (that are too ignorant to know what's best for them ie... joining together), are on our collective sides as this HVCC has the potential to wreak much more havoc in the real estate market FOR ALL players if left to stand without due process. If allowed to stand it's a dangerous precedent for America. I'm glad Frank and Bernanke are admitting this fkn thing is illegal and will be sending it through due process.
Fritz Boy: (April 13, 2010 1:33pm)
Sounds like NAMB is getting into the AMC business. For-profit venture? Who are they going to charge and how much? We hope this template for appraisal ordering takes root and is adopted by other parties. Additionally, the net profits from this venture will go toward funding NAMB’s legislative efforts in Washington, D.C., another portion will go towards building a better communication system with our membership and non-members, and the remaining portion will go toward reducing the amount of dues that members pay to NAMB. Many trade associations have for-profit ventures, and NAMB is on its way to creating its own. Again, NAMB has not abandoned its original position regarding the HVCC. We are committed to having it overturned and completely removed from the appraisal ordering system. That will take time and the random appraisal ordering system is a stopgap until that happens. NAMB is creating a “mortgage broker-centric” appraisal ordering system that saves consumers time and money.
Fritz Boy: (April 13, 2010 1:25pm)
Any one heard of this Random Appraisal System? Just found this on the web. NAMB believes the random appraisal system will ensure the following: The consumer is not charged additional fees since the appraisal is portable. Appraisers are paid a fair value for their professional services.Investors in mortgage broker-originated products have confidence that there was pressure applied to reach a certain valuation. The mortgage broker will be allowed to order the appraisal in their name.NAMB is working with Olde City Lending Solutions to have the(GSEs) and (FHA) approve the random appraisal system.

clulessdad: (April 13, 2010 11:49am)
5pence-That is pretty much all we discussed. As you can imagine, he kind of surprised me with his call. Actually, I thought he was a loan prospect until he got into the nitty gritty of HVCC. LOL He said the House approved the sunset and it is in the Senate version. (His staffers would be sending me the documents.) He said that Frank wanted him to draft the section and he did. I told him that I thought Bernanke was a proponent of HVCC and he said no, that he is opposed to it as well. He said that he (Miller) is a champion of the mortgage broker and appraiser. I told him that many of the bad players were already out of the business and that the SAFE Act was a good thing. He also hoped that the bad players were out and told me to "hang in there. The market needs brokers and appraisers." That was the extent of the call.

While I feel relatively sure, you do not give a rats rump what people think of you. More power to you. But, isn't it amazing what sheep we have become. the world is going to hell in a hand basket, an honest politician is a rumor, Dignity is a word most would have a hard time giving an explanation for, But by God pretty matters most of all. How many of you believe. FDR, TEDDY ROOSEVELT, TAFT, 300 lbs plus WASHINGTON(MADE 1100 GALLONS OF MOONSHINE A YEAR) or ABE LINCOLN, WHO WAS EVEN UGLY TO HIS WIFE. We have evolved to the point, that McDonalds is good for the kids, Barney and Big Bird are qualified to raise our kids, so we will not have to spend time with them. Parents are happier when a new game comes out, so they can occupy their children and keep them out of their hair. We are in such trouble. But to get out of it, we have to get the basics right. http://www.funrunnerstravel.com/My_Thoughts.html

SouthlandAppraisersUnion.com: (April 13, 2010 9:39am)
This is my stand. And of the 50,000 appraisers that have been rape because of a few. We all have 10 centers of influence, and those 10 have 10 , so then the sting begins to weaken, say 5 , then 3 , SO, 50,000 x 10 =500,000 x 10 = 5,000,000 x 5 = 25,000,000 x 3 - 75,000,000. SO far that is 75 million votes you will NOT GET , EXCEPT OF COURSE for that one guy that thinks Jeff Session is doing his job,. I wrote Mr Sessions he replied that most of the problems where BINGO BOB RILEY'S FAULT. So I wrote Bingo Bob and told him about the problems with the secretary that he appointed to be the director of the Alabama appraisal board. HE Promptly replied to me . I will make sure this is investigated ,I will send it straight to the director of the appraisal board. lol The mouse has a problem, let the cat handle it.

Clulessdad - please share when you get this. I just faxed a letter to all our CA Rep's in DC asking for support (again) (ANTI-HVCC Rally 4/4/10 in DC) & I sent out similar e/mail/faxes to our CA rep's in Sacramento (SB237). We need to get our voices heard - & since Rallies are not something Appraiser want to take the time to do...faxes etc are all we can do as a United Group. Anonymous - what have you done to help remove HVCC???? We need "Lobbyist" to get our message out (we can't relay on the AI - they are not always on the side of us "Individual Independent Appraisers"). AI did write a good letter to Shaun Donovan @ HUD on 4/8/10 - RESPA - recording actual appraisal fee & AMC's fee's..... Have you joined any of these Coalitions - they are our only Hope for some "Lobbyist"...as F&B noted after their trip to DC several months ago...no lobbyist....no voice in DC or state capitals.....we are a "lobbyist" run government.

@Markus Frank and Brian have the most sucessful mortgage vids in the history of the planet!! They are being watched by over 50,000 people a day. Do you use Peter Jennings body hooked up to animatronics? Maybe you pay Oprah to do them , hell everyone trusts Oprah.

For anyone in doubt about the MMA Webinar...I saw the one last week. Now, can't wait for some more meat this week. Vid isn't rocket science, but takes some decent planning and specific steps to be effective. My suggestion is to "hit the link!" Nope, not scared of competetion...more afraid of incompetence in the marketplace, and more regulation by Uncle who doesn't think this industry is professional enough. The most recent “come join” for Appraisers has been interests such as the California Coalition of Real Estate Appraisers or the Ohio Coalition of Real Estate Appraisers to whom may have initiated the idea. There is but one question, “what is the possibility the HVCC ruling will be over turned allowing an Independent Appraiser to work directly with the lenders of their choice and rid themselves of the corrupt appraisal management companies sucking the life out of the Appraiser?” It would be beneficial if there was a slight hint of light at the end of the tunnel rather than thinking this is just another way to bleed the Appraisal profession dry.

Guys, my take on the new FHA rules is that if we are an already approved FHA broker (our fiscal YE was 12/31/2009) then we do not need to have an audit done and turned in by 04/30/2010. All we need to do is recert and pay the recert fee and we are approved thru YE 2010. My acc't swears we still need to have an audit done. What is your interpretation? Thanks...btw, take a bath, huh?
